St. Patrick's Decor - 2012

I love decorating for all the holidays and have been looking forward to Cuisine Kathleen's Irish Blog Crawl since last year!!!!!

Let's start with my outside lights!!!!  If you look back at my Valentine's decorations -- I did the same thing but in red.  These red and green mini lights have been great to go from Christmas thru St. Patrick's with just some minor changes -

Some larger shamrocks -

This is how the shamrocks look in daylight -

This is what you see when you enter the side door -

As you continue thru my home decor --

My newest St. Patrick's Day decoration -- a tree!!!!!!  I had bought this tree on ebay several years ago and have used it at Easter.  So nice that I am finding other uses for it!!!  Love these shamrocks found at Big Lots (Bought some several years ago but found them again this year, too!!!) -

A Christmas friend, Karen, had sent a link to these Subway Art and I knew they would be great in my frames -

And, the tour ends with exiting out the front door -

Come this weekend - not yet sure of my plans.  If I celebrate at home I have already talked about making reubens -- but I did pick this up at Trader Joe's --

Of course, you know that Lucy is always up for any holiday.  Can't you tell by the look on her face?

Some Goodwill Finds and More!!

The other day I went with my best friend to do a little shopping about an hour away from home.  Once we got to that area we hit a couple Goodwill stores.  Here are my finds -

I want to glue the glass to the Fall plate and have an Autumn Cake Plate --

2 cute shell dishes - not sure if I will keep them like this or glue maybe glass candlestick holders to them and make them a tiered cake stand --

The snowflake plate is by Dept. 56.  I will bead the handle of that butter knife.  Love that shell plate --

Love this!!!  It is missing a little bowl - but for $2.25 I thought it was a great buy --

One of the many other stops we did was Michael's.  I found these shell rubber stamps in the $1 section --

A cute vase from Marshall's!!  I already know how I want to decorate it for Easter --

Stopped at Marc's - a great discount store in NE Ohio for groceries and other items.  Found these cute rooster containers for $.99 for the small one and $1.99 for the large one.  Great deal --

No outing is complete without a meal , right???  Great burger at Red Robin!!!  Yum!!!

My sister gave Lucy the BEST toy!!!!!  This ball just continuously moves all around the house - unless it gets stuck in this one area because it can't jump back on the carpet.  But, she just watched it in her preferred way - from high up --

Do It Yourself Monogram Ornaments

First of all --- I did it!!!!!!  I have blogged everyday in February!!!!!!  Some days were harder than others and I am so glad that I took photos of food and crafts way before I started blogging.  That helped me tremendously.   I think I will take a rest for a few days!!

A while ago I made some monogram ornaments and could not believe how easy they were to do!  You just need some paint pens (found at the craft area in Walmart or your favorite craft store), either clear or solid color ornaments (mine were all glass ornaments), and some coordinating ribbon.

Practice drawing your initial on paper with a pencil before attempting on the round curved ornament.  Find something to put your ornaments in/on while they are drying --

I painted the initial and some dots on one side and allowed them to dry overnight.  The next day I added more dots to the back and allowed to dry.  I added little dots and added time for them to dry, too.  I am paranoid about letting them dry so I would put them out of the way and let them dry overnight.  I did quite a few of them at a time and made sure there was plenty of time to dry.

I added coordinating ribbon to finish --

I believe it's never too soon to start thinking about Christmas, especially when it comes to making gifts or decorations.  But, this was Lucy's reaction to Christmas so soon --
