Soooooo goooood!!!! This was our Valentine's dinner --
Salisbury Steak
10 oz. can French Onion soup
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 T. flour
1/2 C. fine dry bread crumbs
1/4 C. ketchup
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 C. water
dashes of salt & pepper
1/2 tsp. salad mustard
1/2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
In a bowl, combine 1/3 C. of the onion soup, ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt & pepper. Make patties from this mixture and brown in a skillet. If there is any fat, pour it off. Blend flour with remaining soup right in the soup can. Remove the patties to a plate. In the skillet, add the flour/soup and then add any remaining ingredients. Mix well. Return patties to the pan and let these cook over low heat about 20 minutes - flipping them a couple times. You can use a cover on the pan some of the time both during the browning and the cooking.
I forgot to take any pics of the ground beef mixture but here they are after they were browned and I removed them from the pan -
The sauce mixture -
Patties added to the sauce to cook -
We like to have Salisbury Steak with scalloped potatoes. Even though I make these from scratch -- the scalloped potatoes are from a box!!! I have been making this recipe for about 35 years!!!!!! Half of the ingredients I don't even measure anymore!!
Lucy is very excited that Valentine's Day is over!!!! She is just not a romantic!! This was her reaction when I told her we are thru with Valentines for another year --
